The Islamic Foundation North (IFN) is a vibrant Islamic center serving the Muslim community across the northern suburbs of Chicago and nearby regions of Wisconsin. Established in 1977, the organization was created to fulfill the religious, social, and cultural needs of a growing Muslim population in the area.

From its humble beginnings in a small community space at the Naval Base in Great Lakes, the community steadily grew and eventually established a permanent masjid facility in Libertyville. Today, IFN stands as one of the most active Islamic centers in the Lake County area, providing a welcoming space where Muslims gather for worship, education, and community life.

Faith, Education, and Community Programs

IFN’s mission centers on creating opportunities for the religious and educational development of individuals and families, while fostering unity and strong community relationships.

The masjid hosts daily congregational prayers, weekly Jumu’ah services, and a wide range of educational programs for children, youth, and adults. Programs such as the IFN Qur’an Academy, Sunday School, and youth initiatives help nurture a strong Islamic identity and encourage lifelong learning rooted in the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

In addition to educational initiatives, IFN provides a variety of community services including counseling, funeral services, zakat assistance, and social programs designed to strengthen community bonds and support families during important moments of their lives.
